Learn how your left hand bass can profoundly alter the chords you play!

When you play piano, your left hand usually plays a single bass note on the root of the chord. In this video lesson we will look at how your choice of bass or note dramatically affects the actual chord, harmony and progression the listener perceives. The tutorial will start by looking at a particular progression and show how, by simply altering the bass in your left hand and playing close to nothing in your right hand (just the same note over and over), you can create a rich harmonic progression.

For the second part of this how-to lesson, we will take a simple C major chord and change the left hand bass to obtain varied chords such as C, Am7, Fmaj7sus2, C7 and more.
