In the eighth video of our Elements Of Music series. Music Wizard founder Chris Salter discusses using the chromatic scale as a map and reveals an interesting secret which helps us understand the structure of music.

Hi Chris,
I don’t mean to criticize your lesson in a negative way, but since modern tunings are of the compromised, and ‘well tempered’ type, I think relativity should be foremost in the explanation of chromatic theory. The real genius of the piano, to me, is in the ergonomics of the keys, and how this design helps hands navigate as efficiently as possible. Older perfect fifth & forth tunings, were only applicable to music with such limitations, that everything sounded alike even faster than today’s pop.
P.S. Get that piano tuned!
& watch your fingering! I do.
