Full screen issue

how do I make piano wizard take up the entire screen instead of justa portion of it?
Thank you.

Some computers do not update the registry upon installation of the game. Try this work around and see if it helps.

For Piano Wizard Academy 2.0 version

Click on Windows Start Button.  In the box type in "NVI" -  You should see "NVIDIA Control Panel". Click that.

Depending on your version, you will see either this

1. Click on left "Adjust desktop and postion."

1. Check Full Screen and check the box "override the scaling modes in games and programs."

If this interferes with other games or progams, remember to come back and uncheck this when not using Piano Wizard.  It is unlikely it will happen, but some games/programs are act unepectedly.

If you do not see the above options, try this:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zV68cQgzM3c

--------------------------------------------------

For our old Piano Wizard Premier software, this should work.  If not, try the above

*ATTN WINDOWS 7 USERS*
You will not have a "run" option. Click the little window icon in the lower left that took the place of your Start button.
When the menu comes up, right above where you clicked is a little search box.
That is where you type "regedit"

For Windows XP and Vista:

1. Click the "Start" button and select "Run"
2. Type "regedit" without quotations and click ok. This should pull up the Registry Editor.
3. On the left side of the screen, find the folder that says "HKEY_CURRENT_USER".
4. In that folder, find "Software".
5. In that folder, find "Allegro Rainbow".
6. Click on the "Piano Commando" folder.
7. In the main screen to the right, find the icon labeled as "Full-Screen" and double click. Replace "0" value with a "1" and click ok.
8. Close regedit, and relaunch Piano Wizard.

The game should now be in fullscreen.

There are another couple of quick things to try, both relatively simple to test.

The first we do recommend is to simply try a different mouse device, they sometimes conflict with the keyboard. If yoiu have a wireless, try a trackpad, or a wired mouse, it often resolves it. (the game looks for a keyboard, and sometimes the mouse driver answers in a hardware conflict, even if the keyboard is not yet plugged in.)

This is actually a hardware issue that occasionally arises because there are thousands of variations on mice and keyboards, and sometimes the drivers for them are over zealous, i.e., it will say (in computer code) "connect to USB as a mouse, trackpad, external input device, etc. etc. just trying to make sure THEIR device connects, but blocking later devices from accessing the same part of the computer. So by overidentifying the possible devices it is, then it sometimes blocks other legitimate different devices as if it was another mouse, or it thinks it is a mouse, but the "mouse" is sending non-mouse signals (i.e, music notes).

When our software looks for a keyboard and a mouse driver is sitting where the keyboard driver should be, it can provoke a freeze. This is not really resolvable in the software or operating system without a lot of brain damage and oversight of mouse manufacturers specifications to see that they don't go overboard (unenforcable), BUT, changing out the mouse is a simple solution when this arises and it works most of the time.

Let us know if that worked, even different brands will respond differently. We suggest it because it is relatively easy and it often works to solve the problem.

We have also discovered is that many of the newer computers have very high screen resolutions, that are far bigger than the ones the game was designed for. In addition, Apple decided with some Retina Display monitors to take away the ability to create or choose a lot of different resolution display options that were available before, rendering some programs difficult to display.

Try changing your desktop resolution to something like 1280 by 800 to start.

Windows

Mac

To use the built in options to change resolution on the newest iOS like Sierra is not intuitive anymore.

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Displays, then click Display.
Click Scaled to see additional resolutions, shown as samples, when you hover over the samples, look to your left and it will give you approximations of actual screen size resolutions. Experiment with these to see if this helps resolve your issues.

Try changing your desktop resolution to something like 1280 by 800 to start.

Here is a tutorial about changing screen resolutions with more options, for example if you have a separate display monitor hooked up.

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Displays, then click Display.

Press the Option key while you click Scaled to see additional resolutions for the second display. Then select a scaled resolution option for the second display.

In fact holding the Option key down while I changed this did not allow me on my computer to see the actual screen size resolutions as shown here, but it may work for you. There are some third party tools that claim to use this, but one, "Disable Monitor" that was recommended (for free) also had a warning of problems on the download link, so be careful what programs you choose if you find a third party one to use. I downloaded an app called Display Menu from the App store, and it created another display icon at the top of my screen which let me see and more choose screen resolutions the old fashioned way, with the numbers, aspect ration next to screen resolution choices. The free version is probably all you need.

Here is a tutorial on how screen resolution and aspect ratio apply to your monitor or third party monitors.

Let me know if these helped you, if not, we can go to the next level. If we are patient and systematic, we almost always resolve these tech issues and have you playing and learning piano again.
